Lakes trip was tops

Photos Andy Sq.
Hooray for lakes trip!
Staying in the village hall worked well, bargain cheap and no need to put tents up.
Saturday: Everyone did the Brathay and Leven – we also did the lower down bit of the Leven, which had some nice rapids, and an unrunnable weir (which Andy Sq and Mark ran). Team Stu added the Troutbeck [...]

Talk report – Simon Tapley

Photos: Alistair Marshall. See more photos at Fatcatproductions, and this blog.
Really enjoyed Si Tapley’s talk, great to see what amazing kinds of whitewater there are in Greenland, and to hear about his trip.
Simon was really down-to-earth about the problems they encountered, and gave us a feeling for what its like to be so isolated from everywhere.
Greenland seems to [...]

The Kent: Sue, Daffers, Di, Tian, Si, Rachel, Helen, Rosie, Phil H, Claire, Penny. Tian rolled so hard he did a 360. Helen had a spot of bother just above L shaped weir. Simons legs fell off and he is going to get a creek boat.  Here is Daffers on Force Falls. What a lovely day.

Ingleborough – 10 Feb

Welcome to 10 Feb, official twin-town of the Summer Solstice.
What an amazing day. Wall to wall sunshine, and picnic on the grass.

Ingleborough was very nice, great views over the valley, Pen-y-ghent, Wernside and towards Ingleton.

Being pathalogically woossy about heights, it was a bit too spooky for me to stand anywhere near Gaping Gill, so I [...]

Going underground before it’s my time

Report by Leo. Pictures by Cath.

On one of the sunniest days of the year 11 of us decided to go caving. After eating Caveman Breakfasts at the Inglesport Cafe we headed for the Ireby Fell Cavern. After a series of 30’ climbs down wobbly ladders we had brought along, we got to a breathtaking underground water course carved [...]

Ferocious animal

A peaceful scene. Sadly, just moments later, this fluffy kitten was devoured by a ferocious animal, which, having eaten every last scrap, settled down for a post-dinner nap.
